Brits should make sure they know whether their behaviour is acceptable to their holiday destination.
Holidaymakers should make sure they recognise whether their behaviour is acceptable in their chosen travel destination to avoid getting themselves into trouble.
This advice comes from Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, who said that many people let their hair down when they go away, more than they would do if they had stayed at home.
Sometimes, this could unintentionally create the wrong impression.
"We have seen examples of people getting into trouble for overstepping the mark for behaviour that would be acceptable in other parts of the world," he explained.
For example, it could be "frowned upon" to be drunk in certain countries, such as Dubai, he continued.
According to a report from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, last year, travel insurance holders were most likely to be hospitalised on a holiday in Spain, Greece, France and Thailand and arrested in the United Arab Emirates, Thailand and the USA.
