Germany has plenty to offer visitors of all tastes, it is claimed.
Travel insurance policyholders looking for a new holiday destination to explore should consider Germany, as there is plenty to do in the exciting nation.
According to Klaus Lohmann, UK and Ireland director at the German National Tourist Office, there is more than just beer to be found.
"There is a new Germany", he claims, with both countryside and city life proving to be a huge draw.
Mr Lohmann continues: "There is the best value for money that I can think of."
Specific areas such as Munich, Berlin and Frankfurt top the list of popular destinations, although the representative believes Hamburg is a "rising star" and has been underestimated in the past.
One of its benefits is its eco credentials, as the city is very green but manages to be vibrant at the same time.
The director's comments follow figures from the German Federal Statistical Office, which found overnight stays in the nation by visitors from abroad reached 60.3 million last year, which is the highest ever amount.
And visitors from other countries in Europe made up more than 76 per cent of all one-night stays by those who were not nationals.
The body claims this puts Germany as one of the continent's most popular travel destinations and a firm favourite among foreigners.
Mr Lohmann says the rural parts of the country were promoted in 2010 and this has been a great success among Britons.
As one of Europe's youngest countries, the area has been a "hugely successful" travel destination during the past 12 months, he adds.
