People who have had their travel plans disrupted recently should still head to Turkey this summer, according to an official.
Any holidaymakers who have had their
summer break plans thrown into disarray by the recent folding of a tour operator can still enjoy a superb trip in the coming months, a Turkish tourism official has stated.
Many British people could fear that their scheduled holiday to either Turkey or Greece has been ruined if they booked with Goldtrail Travel - a Surrey-based tour operator that specialised in trips to the two nations - as it was announced on July 16th that it had ceased trading.
However, according to Irfan Onal, director of the UK Turkish Culture and Tourism Office, those affected by this unfortunate turn of events could still grab themselves a good deal and sample Turkey's excellent array of food and local wine, as well as all but guaranteed sunshine.
And according to recent figures published by the Turkish Directorate General of State Airports, the nation's enduring popularity with tourists continues to grow, with the country's airports welcoming 24 per cent more passengers in the first half of 2010 than they did in the corresponding timeframe one year earlier.
Mr Onal went on to state that people seeking a true taste of the genuine Turkish lifestyle should head to one of its famous bazaars and haggle over prices for goods with the local tradesmen.
Also recommended is the traditional Turkish bath where visitors can enjoy relaxing massage treatments.
Anyone thinking of heading to Turkey in the coming months could consider taking out
