Corsica could be perfect for people looking to get away from it all, an expert has said.
Anyone searching for a relaxing, idyllic holiday this
summer need look no further than Corsica, a travel expert has said.
According to Angus Struthers of TripAdvisor, the island - which is located in the Mediterranean - offers stunning coastlines along with mountainous terrain and golden beaches, making it "the ideal destination for tourists who are looking for a place to unwind".
Data released earlier this week (July 12th) by cheapflights.co.uk indicates that Corsica may be perfect for holidaymakers who are eager for a peaceful break away from crowded tourist hotspots.
The research shows that there was a 35 per cent fall in the number of people planning to go to the island in June of this year in comparison with the same month in 2009.
Meanwhile, it seems that despite the effects of the global economic downturn, British people remain determined to take a break in the near future as last month's Holiday Lettings Travel Survey found that some 65 per cent of the population value having a holiday higher than any other disposable income purchase.
Mr Struthers went on to state that some of the most breathtaking spots on the island that visitors should make a special effort to see include the Calanche cliffs and Chapelle de Notre Dame de la Serra, both of which offer "unparalleled views of the Calvi Bay and Porto-Vecchio".
If you are considering a trip to Corsica this year, it may be advisable to take out
travel insurance before leaving the UK.
