'Top ten budget destinations' revealed
A cost of living survey carried out by Thomas Cook revealed that popular European destinations could be cheaper than staying at home - despite the cost of the euro [remember all foreign currencies are lowercase, the same way we lowercase pound] - and the Daily Mail revealed its 'top ten' [delete single speech marks] budget destinations for summer 2009.
Topping the newspaper's list and the cheapest place for food and drink, with a coffee almost ten times cheaper than in the UK, was Goa.
Egypt and Turkey were favourites for their beaches, historical sight-seeing and value for money outside of the eurozone.
North Africa was recommended again, with Morocco and Tunisia also making the countdown - offering camel tours, spas and exotic markets to hunt down a bargain.
Cheap deals to mainland Spain and Majorca bagged them a spot in the top ten and the cost of living survey revealed a beer can be less than half the price than in the UK.
Cyprus and Bulgaria were also favourites for a cheap getaway, along with Cuba - "one of the world's hottest travel destinations" writes the paper.
