Top "free excursions" for holidays in Europe
With 49 per cent of people looking to cut back on expensive excursions this year, according to research by On the Beach, Hotel & Resort Insider has compiled a list of the best "free things" to do in Europe.
Closest to home for most travellers, London offers a wide range of cost-free excursions such as the British museum and the National Gallery.
Across the channel in France, the site recommends the country-wide free street parties and concerts of the fete de la musique on June 21st.
In Hungary, the Red Bull Air Race is taking place in late August, where "flying below the historic chain bridge would be a feast to your eyes", the site says.
The August Street Parade in Zurich is recommended for those travelling in Switzerland and a free beer to accompany your tour is up for grabs at the Antwerp Brewery Haacht in Flanders.
The list suggests Estonia for open-air shows and the "old heritage" of Ireland to roam the "Ring of Kerry" by foot, bicycle or for fishing.
For a final bout of culture, Berlin offers free entry to many museums such as the Pergamon, the Bode Museum and the Old National Gallery each Thursday after 14:00 local time.
