An expert has said that locations such as Egypt and Morocco are becoming more popular than the Mediterranean.
An expert has said that Brits are now looking elsewhere other than the traditional hotspot of the Mediterranean for a cheap
summer holiday deal.
Destinations such as Spain, Italy and Greece have long been established as being among the most popular places for people from the UK to visit on annual breaks thanks to their combination of guaranteed hot weather, beautiful beaches and scenery, good food and cost-effectiveness.
However, according to Nadine Hallak, a spokesperson for cheapflights.co.uk, countries known collectively as the Mett - such as Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey - are now becoming ever-more popular with Britons seeking an overseas holiday.
"These destinations offer year-round sunshine and excellent value for money, not to mention unrivalled culture and history," she noted.
Ms Hallak went on to state that Red Sea resorts are particularly attractive due to the fact that they regularly have great value-for-money offers.
Meanwhile, research published last week (July 13th) by the Co-operative Travel predicted that Mediterranean resorts will no longer be the number one destination for British tourists by the end of next year.
According to the data, there has been an 11.6 per cent drop in the amount of bookings for places such as Spain and Greece, while, conversely, the Mett has seen a recent rise of almost a quarter - 23.4 per cent - meaning that the two areas could swap places in the rankings of Britain's favoured package holiday destinations in the next year or so.
