The Foreign Office has relaxed its warnings for Brits holidaying in Thailand but travellers should still “exercise caution” when visiting the country.
The Foreign Office has relaxed its advice for Britons wishing to travel to Thailand.
While it is still suggested holidaymakers and travellers exercise caution when visiting Bangkok and Chiang Mai, the warning that they should only travel to the country if it is absolutely necessary has been lifted.
This comes as the Thai prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva stated that order has now been restored to the nation.
However, holidaymakers who are set to visit the south-east Asian country in the coming weeks will still need to buy
travel insurance, as the risk of violence in Bangkok and Chiang Mai remains, according to the Foreign Office.
Travel insurance policyholders who are looking to holiday a little closer to home this
summer may wish to consider visiting Manchester.
Nick Brooks-Sykes, director of tourism at the Northwest Regional Development Agency, speaking at the citys tourism awards, advised Manchester is one of Europes top visitor destinations.
