Texas Hill Country boasts 'excellent food and wine'
The Hill Country region of Texas has been praised by one travel writer for its excellent food and wine.
Alex Hannaford wrote for the Guardian that while Texas may be more famous for its beer and steaks, its Hill Country area boasts gourmet-standard cuisine and a host of top notch vineyards, which he claimed "are well worth exploring".
His article likened the place to Tuscany in Italy with the added charm of the landscape conjuring up feelings of "being in a John Ford western".
Mr Hannaford and his partner visited Stonewall - the birthplace of Lyndon B Johnson - while in Hill Country, as well as Fredericksburg.
They also took in Hondo's restaurant, named after local legend Hondo Crouch, who is the subject of Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings' song Everyone Is Someone in Luckenbach.
