Ensuring a holiday is suited to a traveller's requirements is the best way to get value for money, according to an expert.
People hoping to jet off on holiday during 2011 could do well to research their options and choose carefully, according to one expert.
Bob Atkinson, travel analyst at Travelsupermarket.com, says opting for the cheapest deal is not always the most effective way to book a trip.
He explained that the lowest cost package may not suit each traveller's expectations and consumers should search for their perfect holiday armed with advice and information.
"Do loads of research when you are planning your holiday so that you get it clear in your head what it is you're looking for," Mr Atkinson added.
Accommodation might be one thing people are not prepared to compromise on, as the thought of staying in a youth hostel might be the ideal cost-cutting solution for some, but those looking for great service and a stunning hotel might not deem the monetary saving enough.
Choosing a travel insurance policy is another area that could do with some background knowledge, as insufficient cover may leave consumers out of pocket should they fall ill or be injured while abroad.
Mr Atkinson's advice came after research from the price comparison website revealed today (January 17th) is the busiest for those looking to book holidays for 2011.
Travelsupermarket.com expects a 36 per cent increase in the number of customers on its webpages today as customers head online in search of a reprieve from winter weather conditions.
And the company is not the only one expecting a rush, as Skyscanner has made a similar prediction for January bookings.
