Brits can enjoy UK's waterways this May bank holiday and avoid any potential disruptions to air travel.
With consumer confidence about airlines currently low after volcanic ash closed many of the UK's airports, Britons could book a holiday on one of Britain's canals.
A recent poll by travelsupermarket.com revealed that one-quarter of Brits are planning to change their holiday plans to stay in the UK since the disruption, which British Waterways has said could be a prime chance to enjoy the things this country has to offer.
Simon Salem, marketing director at the firm, claimed that hitting the water allows people to appreciate the diversity of Britain's landscape while also having a relaxing and fun holiday.
"Canals are part of our industrial heritage and are home to the UK's third largest collection of listed structures in the form of locks, tunnels, bridges and buildings, making them historically interesting places to explore," he explained.
British Waterways recently chose Canalway Cavalcade in Little Venice, London, Somerset Space Walk at Maunsel Lock in Bridgwater and Caen Hill Locks in Wiltshire as three of the best UK spots to spend the upcoming May bank holiday.
Domestic holidays may require
travel insurance if Britons are concerned over the prospect of transport delays.
Even if you're travelling within the UK,
holiday insurance from Direct
Travel Insurance is still a sensible purchase as the expense of dealing with issues on a holiday can be costly in any country.
