The job market at the moment can stress people out, so they can relax with a long holiday.
People who have been made redundant from their job, or who are struggling to find a new job in the current market, could opt to spend their severance pay on a career break, taking a break overseas to help them relax after years of working and stressful job searching.
According to one commentator, this year's job market in the UK is making it very difficult for many people to find the employment that they need, and people should try to take advantage of this in order to grasp the chance to have a much needed career break.
Rachel Morgan-Trimmer, founder of thecareerbreaksite.com, said that a career break can help many travel insurance customers find a new lease on life that they did not have when they were in full-time employment.
"A slow job market is a great time for a career break. If you've been made redundant or you're struggling to find a new job, a career break can reinvigorate you, while helping you develop new skills," she said.
Ms Morgan-Trimmer also said that people travelling overseas can find themselves paid employment when they are on the move during their break, to help subsidise them. This is popular with people going across South America, and was a tip also recently offered to those heading off on gap years from studying.
She added that where you travel when taking a career break is really not as important as what you do, as long as you make sure to do something worthwhile.
"Do something constructive. You could be volunteering your time helping children in an orphanage, or developing your skills [by] learning to be a ski instructor. You might do paid work, like temping or Tefl (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), or you could simply choose to travel," she advised career breakers.
