Swine flu shows importance of travel insurance
Swine flu has underlined the importance of taking out a travel insurance policy, an industry association has stressed.
"Passengers will be covered by their travel insurance if they are unable to fly due to swine flu," explained a spokesperson from the Association of British Insurers (ABI).
"The earlier you take out insurance, the better," she added - as travellers will be covered from when they take out the policy until they arrive back home.
She said that travellers could be "rest assured" that their holiday insurance will cover them for medical expenses abroad as well, as long as any problem was not a pre-existing condition.
Abta - The Travel Association advises holidaymakers to take out a travel insurance policy as soon as they book their travel.
This follows an announcement from Virgin Atlantic and British Airways this week (July 20th) that stated passengers displaying any symptoms of swine flu would not be allowed to board their aircraft to travel.
