The nationalities that spend the most on holiday have been identified in a new report.
Europe's biggest holiday spenders have been highlighted in a new study.
According to Hotel.com's Hotel Price Index (HPI), Irish and Norwegian vacationers spend the most on their accommodation, forking out an average of 122 (£112) per night.
These nationalities were followed by the British and Swedish in terms of their expenditure, which could also cover their
holiday insurance.
Britons and Swedes tend to be willing to pay 120 and 119 each night respectively.
The results are based on figures for the first two quarters of the year in the HPI study.
Commenting on Irish tourists retaining the title of Europe's biggest spenders, Alison Couper, director of communications at Hotels.com, said: "[It] is probably why they are welcome tourists throughout the world.
"The Irish have earned a reputation for being great spenders while on recreational breaks."
New York may be a good destination for these big spenders, since it was recently found to be the most expensive city to visit while on holiday by Virgin Money.
Cheap holiday insurance from Direct Travel Insurance could be one way to keep total holiday expenditure down.
