An autumn holiday to Croatia's second city allows travellers to indulge in sunshine and shopping.
Split makes for an attractive destination for an autumn holiday, it has been suggested.
Writing for the Independent, Simon Calder points out that taking in the Croatian city at this time of year means that travelers will be able to see it at its "sparkling best".
Claiming it has a "seafront to match the most glamorous locations in Europe", Mr Calder also commends the city's numerous beaches as well as the Diocletian Palace and its nearby market.
He also cites the competitiveness of a holiday to Split where "prices are lower than elsewhere on the Adriatic coast".
And taking a visit during the autumn months, travelers will not only be able to enjoy "warm and bright" weather but can do so without the masses of tourists which flock to the country's second city every summer.
Taking out
travel insurance ahead visiting Split or anywhere in Croatia may be advisable however, as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office states that travellers to the country should check that their policy provides protection for all the activities they wish to take part in.
