Summer of night-time entertainment in Le Mans
Travel insurance customers looking for a fun-packed holiday without the price tag may want to head to Le Mans at the end of June.
Each evening between June 27th and August 29th free "magical shows" will be put on as the sun sets across the ancient walls of the medieval city.
"Vividly coloured feasts of film displays are celebrated in six city sites," said Loire Valley Tourism.
La Nuit des Chimeres shows "are perfect for all the family" it adds, as they light up the cobbled streets of the French town.
Each show depicts a theme based around the history of the town including flying birds and angels, mythical creatures and royalty of the past such as Kings Henry and Richard.
The town of Le Mans can be reached by train from Paris in an hour or is an hour and a half's drive from the ferry port at Caen.
Situated on the Sarthe river, Le Mans is also the venue for the 24-hour car race, held each year around June.
