St Johann 'is perfect for a family ski break'

St Johann recommended for families

An Austrian ski resort has been named as the best place to take a family ski holiday by a winter sports travel company.

Holidaymakers with ski insurance looking for somewhere to take a winter holiday with the family may wish to head to St Johann in Austria.

This is the advice of winter holiday company Directski.com, which recommended the resort to families with ski insurance due to its location.

It also has "excellent English-speaking ski schools" and centrally located hotels and is just more than an hour's drive away from Salzburg Airport.

For groups who have members more interested in the activities off the slopes, the company recommends Zell am See, also in Austria

"Zell am See has masses to offer, including tobogganing, bowling, a sports centre with indoor pool, ice-skating, snow shoeing, sleigh rides and cinema," it explained.

For a good value break suitable for beginners, the travel firm suggests Arinsal in Andorra, which is "unpretentious" and free from "Europe's superior skiers".

In August, we love to Ski reported the collapse of luxury winter holiday operator Decent International, whose customers include J K Rowling, the Beckhams and the Duke of York.

The Ski Club of Great Britain stressed the importance of using an ATOL tour operator and taking out travel insurance when booking a trip.
