Spain is 'more than just crowded beach resorts'
Spain should not be dismissed as a travel destination this summer because people think it will be filled with tourists, a holiday company has said.
"It's not all about overcrowded beaches and the Costas - you can find some really authentic places where you can see the real Spain," said Sarah Chambers, public relations manager at Holiday-Rentals.
Ms Chambers went on to say that renting accommodation on holiday can be a cheaper alternative to hotels and there are properties in hilltop villages and towns.
Travel to Spain can still be found cheaply and by going self-catering, the "savvy" traveller can still make Europe a good value destination.
According to figures from Hotels.com, the average Brit will spend an average of £97 per night when staying abroad, whereas the Spanish and the Italians will spend £110 per night and the Irish spent the most money on hotel rooms - an average of £112 per night.
