Serifos "brilliant" for Greek beach seclusion
Travel insurance buyers seeking a quiet sun-kissed beach holiday in Greece need look no further than the island of Serifos, a national newspaper has suggested.
The Times picked out the relatively unheralded Cyclades destination as one of its five undiscovered Mediterranean gems and claimed it is a great location to get some sun in seclusion.
"It's a stark, sunburnt place, austerely authentic, but brilliant if you're after a hot Greek beach without the crowds," she remarked.
The island has a mythical history too as the supposed homeland of Perseus, who is said to be responsible for much of the rocky landscape after turning the place to stone with the head of Medusa.
Holiday.gr states that Serifos "impresses" visitors both with its "wild beauty" and its charming "traditional settlement".
The other Mediterranean locations picked out by the Times include Cabo de Gata in Spain, Olympos in Turkey, Costa Vicentina in Portugal and Capo Vaticano in Italy.
