Those travelling to their own or someone else's holiday home are particularly likely to go without adequate insurance, according to new research.
A new study has revealed that more than one-quarter of Britons who travel to a holiday home belonging to themselves or someone else do not make the adequate preparations when it comes to insurance.
The research by Gocompare.com showed that 28.8 per cent of such holidaymakers do not take out
travel insurance, compared with 3.2 per cent of those buying overseas package deals.
It also found that almost 13 per cent of travellers who book their own flights and accommodation do not buy holiday insurance.
This is in spite of figures indicating that many holidaymakers have suffered problems such as delayed flights and illness or injury while abroad.
Lee Griffin, business development director of Gocompare.com, called on travellers to ensure they take out holiday insurance regardless of where they are staying.
"No matter where you go or how you travel, insurance should be on your holiday shopping list," he commented.
Last year, research by Holiday Lettings revealed that Canada, Thailand and Greece are the fastest-growing hotspots in terms of holiday home investment.
