Prince William and Kate Middleton's honeymoon in the Seychelles has increased the profile of the holiday destination.
More people could be looking to book holidays to the Seychelles after Prince William and Kate Middleton chose the destination for their honeymoon.
The pair were married in a glossy ceremony at Westminster Abbey at the end of last month and have taken a break on the islands.
Alain St Ange, chief executive officer at the Seychelles Tourism Board, noted that they are a former colony of the UK and retain a close relationship with it.
"The hype around the location of the royal honeymooners has put Seychelles on the lips of everyone and it will definitely help the visibility of our islands," he said.
Mr St Ange added that thousands of Britons book their holidays to the Seychelles every year as the islands are known as being a place where it is always summer.
He noted one of the reasons they pick the destination - which is located in the middle of the Indian Ocean - is because it enjoys a reputation of being a very safe place to stay.
"They all feel at home in a country where English is one of the official languages," commented the chief executive officer at the Seychelles Tourism Board.
He added that it is not the case that the Seychelles are only for the rich, as is the perception of the islands, as there is a range of affordable accommodation for those tourists who have a tight budget.
This comes after details of searches on lastminute.com published this month by the website showed that there was a 422 per cent increase in the number of people looking at holidays in the Seychelles.
