'Rise in numbers' going camping and caravanning
UK-based holidays and camping trips are becoming more and more popular with British travellers, according to recent research.
"There is very strong interest in the more budget end of the tourism market. People are looking at a lower-cost holiday option - of course, camping, budget hotels and holiday camps are a good value," said Peter Hampson, director of the British Resorts and Destinations Association.
Mr Hampson added that almost the whole of the domestic holiday market was perhaps performing better than it was last year and the high levels of investment in holiday camps were beginning to pay off.
According to a poll of 1,000 people in April, 29 per cent took their holiday at a campsite, in a caravan or holiday park this Easter, compared to 17 per cent in 2008, reported PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The research also revealed ten per cent of Brits chose to take a break in the UK, whereas only two per cent opted to travel abroad over Easter.
Even if you’re travelling within the UK, holiday insurance from Direct Travel Insurance is still a sensible purchase as the expense of dealing with issues on a holiday can be costly in any country.
