Renting holiday accommodation could be a cheaper way to take a break
Renting out a holiday home could be a much cheaper alternative when looking to save money on a trip away, according to new research.
Figures published by Holiday-Rentals in July found that in some cases, renting out a holiday home can cost up to four times less than a hotel when taking into account the amount of space on offer.
"Travellers realise they can rent a whole home for less per head than a hotel and stretch their budget even further by taking advantage of self-catering facilities," said managing director of the company Courtney Wylie.
For the best value for money, travellers should renew their European travel insurance policies and head to Prague, which the company said was the cheapest place to rent a holiday home compared to the cost of a hotel.
In second place, New York rentals worked out at an average of 1.8 times less expensive than a hotel.
Holidaymakers with USA travel insurance heading to New York this July, may wish to venture into Brooklyn for the annual Festa del Giglio.
The 12-day festival celebrates San Paolino di Nola in the same tradition as in the Neapolitan region of Italy and includes live music, fun fair rides, a parade and plenty of Italian cooking.
