The US can offer plenty of natural sights, particularly at its nature reserves.
Travel insurance customers keen to get an authentic experience during their holiday in the US might consider heading to a ranch.
According to spokeswoman for the US Travel Association Stella Clery-Ackland, this activity can provide tourists with a real insight into the country.
"They will meet real people and interact with the culture and essence of the American experience," the expert said.
Spending time in the great outdoors allows travellers to get back to nature, she continued, stating Alaska and Montana are among the most popular destinations for Britons.
National parks in these areas, as well as the Rocky Mountain region and Colorado, could provide people with "stunning scenery" and the opportunity to view "unspoiled" parts of the world.
Ms Clery-Ackland advised doing some research into places before heading away, with mid-west states such as Missouri and Minnesota also proving popular.
Her comments follow the full-year 2010 demand statistics for international scheduled air traffic from the International Air Transport Association.
The body recorded a 7.4 per cent rise in passenger demand among north American carriers over the 12-month period, as well as an 82.2 per cent passenger load factor for the full year, which was up from the 79.6 per cent figure reported in 2009.
Tourists keen to get good value for money during their travels may be interested to hear Ms Clery-Ackland's claims that this can be found in the mid-west US, where it is possible to see the history of the pioneers "who forged America".
She noted the pace of life in such states is "slow, but measured", which may suit those looking to relax during their break.
