Preparation 'can help to ensure a family holiday is a relaxing getaway'
There are many different ways in which travellers can prepare for taking their children on holiday, other than taking out a holiday insurance policy, it has been reported.
According to the American Society of Travel Agents (Asta), following a few simple suggestions can help in making sure the family enjoys a relaxing break.
One tip was to encourage children to get excited about the holiday by letting them choose items to pack in their suitcase.
A surprise toy kept in reserve for keeping the child entertained on the plane might also be a good idea, Asta added.
Once the family has arrived at their holiday destination, they are advised to do a quick sweep of the hotel room, bathroom and balcony to remove any potential dangers and avoid having to claim on a travel insurance policy.
Mintel revealed yesterday (July 8th) that family holidays were the second most popular genre of travel - after couples' holidays - accounting for 37 per cent of all trips booked.
