More people are looking for unusual excursions to enjoy while holidaying in Britain.
Holidaymakers enjoying a break in Britain are increasingly searching for more unusual pursuits to get involved with - and one expert has recommended a fruity choice.
Simon Tipple from Visit Worcestershire explained that Pershore is famous for a certain type of foodstuff and the Plum Festival has been introduced to celebrate it.
"When you go away on holiday, you're looking to do something that's out of the ordinary ... these events just add a bit of quirkiness and a bit of passion to what we're all about," he explained.
The festival takes place throughout August and attendees can get involved in buying preserve-based produce, arts and crafts or even drinking plum ale.
If eccentric cuisine is more up your street, why not sample the sausages, cheese, puddings or jam that have been created using the purple fruit?
Adventurous tourists could try a parachute jump while kids might prefer the fairground rides and music.
August 6th is when the Land O'Plums Hurdle will be held for the first time in 70 years at the Worcester Race Course, Mr Tipple continued.
On the same day, visitors might also experience the Tiddesley Wood Yellow Egg Plum Handicap Hurdle, the farmers' market or the beer, food and music festival.
The expert's comments have been backed up by research from cottages4you which showed one in ten respondents want to enjoy their favourite hobby while on an excursion and 37 per cent claim they would like to try an activity break.
Whether holidaying in Britain or abroad, it is important to examine the different
travel insurance options available to ensure the right level of cover is purchased before leaving home.
