Pamplona proves popular with a "young party crowd" that could include gap year travel insurance policyholders.
Those who are planning to buy their gap year travel insurance and head off on an adventure might want to check out Pamplona in Spain.
According to the travel editor of Lonely Planet, Tom Hall, the town in the northern region of the country attracts many visitors during the summer months because of the Pamplona bull run. Statistics from the Spanish tourism and trade ministry show that last month the number of people who took a trip to the country rose by 1.1 per cent, despite the chaos caused by the volcanic ash cloud.
He said it was a "bit of a rite of passage" to go to Pamplona and either take part in the runs or just "have a good old party".
The event forms part of the annual San Fermin festival and begins on July 6th.
But gap year travel insurance customers thinking of adding this spot to their itinerary may want to book ahead, Mr Hall warned.
"It's very popular and accommodation is almost impossible to come by and transport gets very stretched during the time that you're there - so it's worth planning on camping or travelling in for the day."
Other great things to do in Pamplona include exploring the historic buildings and sculptures as well as relaxing in the picturesque parks.
Nearby San Sebastian was also recommended by the Lonely Planet editor, as it is brilliant for restaurants and lovely sandy beaches.
