The nation is becoming more accessible, according to an expert.
Thrill-seekers on the lookout for their next big adventure might want to take one expert's advice to undertake some outdoor pursuits in Cambodia.
Heather Carswell, a spokeswoman at Lonely Planet, said the nation has plenty of exciting jungle areas to see and visitors should find the regions are becoming more accessible.
"Most visitors to Cambodia don't explore the country's jungles," she explained, adding that "an increasing number of travellers will be making the most of the unspoilt jungle", as much of the nation is opening up to tourists.
And it is not just vegetation that will keep people interested in Cambodia, as Ms Carswell explained it boasts "fantastic wildlife" that could prove interesting on a hiking trip through the forests.
It may be worthwhile booking a holiday sooner rather than later, as the expert states that more people are learning about the opportunities in Asia and are likely to travel there in the future.
"There are areas ... where travellers rarely go, which may well see the halo effect of an increase in tourist numbers," Ms Carswell explained, pointing out that Vietnam and Laos could also experience more interest.
Holiday insurance policyholders appear to be arriving in their droves, as research from the Pacific Asia Travel Association has revealed an increasing demand for destinations in the region.
South-east Asia has experienced the biggest boost in tourism, with a rise of approximately eight per cent expected between 2009 and 2013. Some 8.7 million people are predicted to make long-haul trips from Europe to the Asia Pacific region over the next two years.
