Cities in the old Eastern Bloc of Europe offer some of the cheapest Christmas markets, according to the Post Office.
Those heading to Europe to take in its Christmas markets this winter may want to save some cash by opting for the cheapest.
Research carried out by Post Office Travel Services indicates that cities such as Prague, Warsaw and Krakow offer better value for money than more prominent shopping destinations such as Paris.
This is based on the cost of a typical basket of eight Christmas gifts.
Flights to these cities can also be very cheap with certain airlines, the Post Office said.
Those looking to snap up chart CDs for less should head to Poland, while those in the market for new Nintendo DSi should visit Prague, it added.
Post Office head of travel services Sarah Munro commented: "The eastern European currencies - particularly the Polish zloty - have remained weak and this means that Christmas shoppers can get the most for their money in cities like Prague, Warsaw and Budapest."
A recent study by Virgin Money - which accounted for costs such as accommodation and
travel insurance - also found that Krakow will be one of the cheapest Christmas shopping destinations this winter.
