Travel insurance holders may be charmed by Munich during Oktoberfest.
People planning to visit Munich, Germany for Oktoberfest celebrations later this month may wish to look beyond the traditional beer-drinking festival, according to the city's tourist office.
According to Karoline Graf of the Munich Tourist Office, the festival begins on September 19th with the traditional entry of the host of breweries, but there is plenty to see beyond the parades.
She described the Oktoberfest museum as "calm", adding a guided tour of the facility may be an attractive option for families with extra time.
And as city centre hotels can increase their prices during the festival season, it may be worth considering other accommodation, such as staying in a caravan or opting for a hotel farther away.
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office recommends that all holidaymakers travelling from the UK to Germany take out comprehensive
travel insurance before they set off.
An estimated 2.2 million British nationals visited the country in 2007.
