People trying to decide on a holiday destination that is equally as exciting in winter as summer might take one expert's advice and visit Hong Kong.
Dawn Page, director of UK and Northern Europe for the Hong Kong Tourism Board, said there is plenty to keep travellers entertained throughout the year, whether their interests lie in cultural or recreational pursuits.
"It really is a year-round destination, with festivals and events held throughout," she explained.
Holiday insurance policyholders hoping to set off in the next few weeks could schedule time during their stay to celebrate the Chinese New Year in February, which Ms Page states is "a particular high spot".
March could prove popular among sports fans, as the Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament takes place during the month, while later in the year is said to be "amazing" by the official, as Christmas and new year celebrations get underway.
Fans of retail therapy might be thrilled to hear that the sales in Hong Kong begin in December instead of January, which could be ideal for picking up last-minute gifts in an exotic location.
Heading to the harbour comes recommended for December 31st, as Ms Page says the fireworks display is well worth a look, as are the Christmas decorations dotted around the region.
Single trip insurance policyholders jetting off to the Chinese province could do well to book flights soon, as Hong Kong International Airport reports passenger traffic grew to 50.9 million individuals during 2010, which marks a ten per cent increase on the previous 12-month period.
