Visitors to Nice have been advised to check out the Old Town.
The Old Town has been recommended as a part of Nice that first-time visitors to the city need to make sure they visit during their stay.
Jessika Bettan, marketing attache at the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Nice, pointed out that the area has its own character as it held on to its independence until 1860.
This means some of the local residents still speak the old language Niçoise, while the town is "brought to life" via the use of the striking colours the houses are painted.
"Everyday we have a food and vegetable market and a flower market, except on Mondays when we have an antique market," said Ms Bettan.
She added this means the Old Town in Nice is well worth a visit all-year round, as the markets do not cease opening for the winter.
"It's a really dynamic city," pointed out the expert, who noted people are meeting 24 hours a day, with restaurants around the square staying open until late to entertain tourists and locals alike.
Ms Bettan also recommended those on Nice holidays go to Castle Hill, which is the site of the old building destroyed by Louis XIV, although it is still a green spot with "a beautiful view over the city and the harbour".
According to research from The Co-operative Travel, published earlier in the month (June 1st), traditional holiday destinations for Britons such as France are becoming increasingly popular again, perhaps due to how easy it is to reach them despite travel problems.
