New York 'well worth a visit'
New York remains a great place to visit and continues to offer British travellers plenty of bang for their buck, according to one writer.
The Telegraph's David Boynton gave the lowdown on the east coast metropolis this week and recommended that visitors take a trip to department store Bloomingdales and see a matinee show on Broadway while on holiday in the city.
He also advised that travellers check out the Museum of Modern Art, but warned against buying anything from local street dealers or transplanted British shops such as a Topshop, which are much cheaper in the UK.
Due to recent falls in visitor traffic for conventions, many of New York's hotels are slashing prices to draw in customers, which helps to keep the place good value for money regardless of the strength of the pound.
Furthermore, Mr Boynton said: "It remains the most fabulous city on earth, which itself should be reason enough to go, whatever the state of the world's economy."
Those travelling to New York without adequate holiday insurance could risk having to pay between £35,000 and £45,000 if they suffer an accident requiring the use of an air ambulance, according to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
