Those looking to head abroad to get cheap Christmas gifts should head to New York, according to the Post Office.
Holidaymakers hoping to grab some bargain Christmas presents on their next trip abroad should visit New York, it has been suggested.
According to the third annual Christmas Shopping Guide from Post Office Travel Services, shoppers could save 25 per cent on average on gifts bought in the Big Apple compared with London.
For example, a men's Abercrombie & Fitch shirt costs £70 in London but carries a £23 price tag in New York.
Other top brands for holidaying money-savers include Diane von Furstenberg, Tiffany, Marc Jacobs and Calvin Klein.
However, the Post Office said it is important to research prices before going shopping.
"Many fashion items and beauty products are significantly cheaper in New York than in London, but this is not always the case and it will pay to check prices for top designer labels before travelling," commented Sarah Munro, head of travel services for the Post Office.
Those going shopping in New York may want to take out
holiday insurance in case their purchases are lost or damaged on the way home.
Some of New York's best-known attractions include the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Empire State Building.
