Holidays to New York will become more popular as Christmas approaches, according to one expert.
The fact that the pound is now improving against the dollar may result in more Britons heading to New York both before and after Christmas, it has been suggested.
According to thetravelmagazine.net editor Sharron Livingston, the weak pound put off many people from going to the US earlier this year, although New York tends to be a popular destination most of the time.
She added that hoteliers in America are currently reducing room rates to attract more tourists.
"Couple this with overall expectations of better times and the USA - especially New York - may well see an influx of visitors in the run-up to Christmas and beyond," Ms Livingston remarked.
The comments came after Hayes & Jarvis released research suggesting that Britons can now make their money go further in destinations such as the Caribbean, Hong Kong and Dubai after suffering from the slump in sterling earlier this year.
