New York is a hotbed of activity this summer, according to an NYC & Company official.
New York is the place to be this year for Brits looking for a bit of everything in their
summer getaway, according to NYC & Company.
The Big Apple has a wide range of eclectic events and festivals to suit all holidaymakers, whether they want a quiet, sightseeing trip or to sample the city's world-renowned music and nightclubbing scene.
During the first quarter of 2010, New York played host to an estimated 10.6 million tourists - an 11 per cent increase on the corresponding period of last year - and, according to Anna Catchpole, UK public relations officer for NYC & Company, this trend looks set to continue.
"New York City has some amazing events and festivals this
summer," she said.
"Check out the outdoor concerts in Central Park, the music events at the Water Taxi Beaches and the outdoor film festivals in Brooklyn."
As well as seeing the city's famous sights, such as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, Ms Catchpole also urged travellers to view its less mainstream attractions like Governors Island and Wave Hill.
Anyone travelling to the Big Apple this
summer should take out
travel insurance before leaving the UK.
