An expert has urged families looking to stay in the UK this summer to visit the National Forest.
The Midlands offers the perfect staycation destination for families looking to remain in Britain for their
summer holidays this year, an industry expert has said.
Many holidaymakers are considering remaining in the UK for their breaks this year as they seek to avoid a repeat of the disruption caused to flights across mainland Europe by the Icleandic volcanic ash cloud over the course of the last few months.
Thousands of travellers had their journeys delayed or cancelled as airspace around the continent was closed for safety reasons, meaning that more people are now opting to stay on home shores for their holiday in the coming months.
Indeed, recent research by iknow-uk found that there had been an increase in internet searches for accommodation at pubs in the Peak District this
summer.
And Carol Rowntree Jones, media relations officer at the National Forest, said that the new child-friendly Conkers centre at the heart of the region offers parents looking for a peaceful break the ideal place to go.
"Conkers will have all kinds of activities over the
summer holidays for children whether its pond dipping, mini beast hunting or going out with the rangers," she said.
The National Forest covers a sprawling area of 200 sq m across parts of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire and Ms Rowntree Jones added that a new circular bike route has been created through the forest, which is ideal for a gentle stroll or ride around the idyllic surroundings.
Anyone thinking of visiting the National Forest this
summer should consider taking out
travel insurance before leaving home.
Even if you're travelling within the UK,
holiday insurance from Direct
Travel Insurance is still a sensible purchase as the expense of dealing with issues on a holiday can be costly in any country.
