People prefer short trips abroad rather than gifts.
More people are now booking experiences and short trips abroad as opposed to buying their loved ones material gifts, according to one expert.
According to Jack Huang of Executive Perks, people now enjoy to see their family and friends having a good time rather than opening traditional gifts such as clothes and toiletries.
Some of the more traditional experiences available include things like race track driving courses, flying lessons and Ferrari driving, but more are now becoming available for those who want a quick trip away.
Travel insurance customers with kids can take them to meet Santa Claus in the more authentic setting of Lapland, bringing them a family experience they will remember forever. And for those who appreciate artwork and unique qualities, Sweden's famous ice hotel can be a perfect place to visit.
The hotel is built from tons of snow and ice, and can provide the sort of experience that just cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
Mr Huang said that the shift to experiences is ongoing for many of his company's clients.
"This might be because experiences are shareable with friends and loved ones. Additionally, experiences are a closer reflection of a person's individuality, values and self-expression. That is, no two experiences are exactly the same, whereas two wallets can be exactly the same. An experience is what you make of it, rather than what a fashion house has made for you."
He went on to say that people perhaps place more emotional feeling on the gift of sharing an experience with someone than they do when handing over a sweater or a new pair of socks.
