Approximately $5 billion (£3.2 billion) has been pumped into the industry, which has resulted in 45 per cent more rooms becoming available.
Indeed, many existing accommodation options are being refurbished and developed to capture the imaginations of the increasing number of tourists to the Asian island.
Beruwela is to see a new four-star hotel opened within its boundaries, thanks to a $17.8 million cash injection from John Keells Holdings.
The 190-room showpiece is in addition to the duo of upgraded facilities in Trincimalee as a result of investment from the same organisation.
Those with flights to Sri Lanka scheduled for later this year could also do well to investigate the new offerings from Jetwing.
Existing resorts owned by the chain will be revamped and converted before opening their doors in December.
Hiran Cooray, chairman of the group, said the $6.2 million has been allocated as a result of increased tourism to Sri Lanka and he added: "Jetwing has planned to occupy [additional] spots by locating and developing new, similar standard, hotels in the east coast and in Yala, Kandy, Jaffna and Colombo."
The number of people travelling to Sri Lanka from Britain increased by 51 per cent during last month when compared with the same period in 2009 - and this rise has been attributed to travel restrictions affecting the island being lifted by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
