Tourists visiting Mombasa have been advised to head to the Old Town.
The Old Town in the city of Mombasa has been recommended to tourists taking holidays in Kenya.
Angie Sloan, Kenya Tourist Board UK director, stated the area is "definitely" worth exploring for those who book breaks in the African country.
She explained those who check it out will see that it "reflects the city's rich history as a settlement", which dates back for several hundred years.
Ms Sloan noted the Arabic influences that were taken by the area are clearly on view to those who explore it.
She also pointed out that the best way to get around the Old Town in the city of Mombasa is to walk, rather than rely on public transport or a car.
"The Old Town is rich in art, antiques and ancient architecture and the historical Fort Jesus is just steps away from where the Old Town begins," said Ms Sloan.
Visitors to Mombasa could also find they can pick up some souvenirs during their time in the location, as this is one of the best places in the Kenyan city to pick up a gift for friends and family.
Ms Sloan's comments come shortly after figures acquired from the Kenya Tourist Board were released showing 2011 has been a record-breaking year in terms of the number of people holidaying in the country so far.
UK arrival figures for the whole quarter were found to show a cumulative increase of over ten per cent year-on-year, showing Kenya's increasing popularity as a tourist destination for Britons.
