Many Britons look set to spend their summer holiday sunning themselves on a beach in the Mediterranean, according to one travel firm.
British travellers are likely to be spending their
summer break in the Mediterranean, Holiday Lettings has predicted.
It says that of the holiday queries sent to the firm in January, almost 50 per cent were for
summer holidays.
Among these, destinations such as Portugal, Croatia, the Balearics and Greece were particularly prevalent.
However, queries for the February half-term break and the Easter holidays tended to be focused on getaways within the UK, following on from the trend for domestic trips that emerged during the recession as consumers sought to save money on their travels.
"With homes in the UK currently top of the pile for imminent school holiday periods, we're confident that the staycation will continue to be popular this year," commented Ross Elder, managing director of Holiday Lettings.
Those travelling abroad or domestically for their next holiday may benefit from taking out
single trip travel insurance for peace of mind.
