A survey has seen the island of Martinique voted the best food destination in the Caribbean.
Food lovers looking for a truly gastronomic holiday might want to head to Martinique.
A recent survey by Caribbean Travel + Life magazine saw the island voted the best destination in the region in terms of dining by 43.3 per cent of readers.
Other top-ranking Caribbean islands included St Martin, Puerto Rico and Barbados.
Martinique's culinary highlights include Creole cuisine that blends flavours from Africa, India and Europe as well as from the Caribbean.
Last November also saw Caribbean World magazine award Martinique the title of Best Gourmet Island of the Year.
"Caribbean Travel + Life readers are certainly among the most knowledgeable when it comes to the best that our region has to offer, so it's especially gratifying to be recognised by them," commented Muriel Wiltord of the Martinique Promotion Bureau.
Those heading to Martinique might want to ensure they have
travel insurance in place if they choose to take part in some of the more active pursuits available on the island, including scuba diving, sailing and hiking.
