'Many last-minute holiday deals' left to be had
People's attitudes are changing as they become happier to spend on travel plans again, according to one industry figure.
"Even in the current climate we are seeing that people are becoming more confident in their spending in general and we are definitely seeing sales pick up," said Darren McCormick, head of aviation at Travel Counsellors.
He went on to say that especially with long-haul destinations, the numbers of last-minute deals on holidays available is higher than ever before.
People who have taken out a multi-trip travel insurance policy will be able to make the most of last-minute deals and Mr McCormick recommended booking with a travel agent that can offer added value for money, or that can shop around on a holidaymaker's behalf.
A report published on June 24th by youtravel.com revealed that late bookings have grown by 20 per cent over the last six weeks.
Greece was named as the fastest growing destination this year with holidays to Crete and Rhodes up by 27 per cent compared to 2008.
Cheap holiday insurance from Direct Travel Insurance could be one way to keep total holiday expenditure down.
