The Olympics will be more popular for British holidaymakers than with those from overseas.
People from the UK will be more likely to visit London for an Olympic related holiday than those from elsewhere in the world, according to an expert, and this means that it is important that accommodation and travel is priced fairly to allow people the chance to do what they want to do over the summer.
Bob Atkinson, travel expert at TravelSupermarket, said that there has been a drop in the number of people from outside the UK who are travelling into the capital this summer, mostly due to the fact that there has been a drop in the number of rooms which travel firms can offer to travel insurance customers.
However, this means that more Brits will be seeking out the chance to go to London for cheap prices, if they are indeed valued correctly.
"It's a lot of swings and roundabouts, and the real thing that will decide for many if they go will be the affordability of travel and accommodation in London. If LOCOG giving back 20 per cent of all rooms they've contracted translates to lower prices for consumers, more people will go – who wouldn't want to take part in a fabulous event."
He also said that there will be many people from London itself who will be looking to take part in the event to really have the chance to buy into an electric atmosphere. Hyde Park can be expected to be full of people watching the big screens as a way to catch the feeling of the event.
Those who are travelling into London for the Games could also take some time out from their sporting holiday tomake sure that they are taking advantage of many of the cultural offerings in the capital. Recently, London and partners said that the city can offer activities for all the family, even being able to educate children on the history of the nation while they enjoy themselves.
