Increased flights to Malta means that the island could be ideal for a weekend getaway, it has been suggested.
Malta could be the perfect destination for a weekend getaway thanks to the fact that there are more flights running to the island.
This is according to Alex Incorvaja of the Malta Tourism Authority, who notes that the country is three hours away from England by air.
"[A] weekend break tied in with a variety of restaurants and cuisines of typical Mediterranean with a Maltese slant is just another attraction in itself," he comments.
Ryanair has recently launched two new flights to Malta from Bournemouth and Leeds-Bradford airports, with easyJet and bmi baby also set to unveil new services to the island in the near future.
Some of the highlights of a trip to Malta include its three UNESCO World Heritage sites and the country's sister island, Gozo, Mr Incorvaja says.
