British tourists heading to Malaga this summer can look forward to a real treasure.
British tourists may be tempted to book holidays in Malaga this summer after the destination was described as a "real treasure".
According to Antonio Montejo Romero, a spokesman for Malaga City Tourist Board and Convention Bureau, the city - which is located on the Costa Del Sol - in not yet well-known among holidaymakers.
He explained many people believe Malaga to be just an airport they use to get to another nearby location, or they have only been to the beach and have not checked out the rest of the region.
Mr Romero said: "We're talking about our wonderful momentous heritage from Romans, the Catholic kings and the Jewish times."
Examples of this include a Roman amphitheatre dating back to the first century, which has been restored and may be one of the first places those on holidays to Malaga look to visit.
Alcazaba was another destination singled out as a recommendation by Mr Romero, who explained that its attractions include "a 14th-century Arabian castle and a 16th-century cathedral".
Spain looks set to be one of the most popular locations for British tourists to head to this summer, after research by Rhinocarhire.com found that the traditional two-week break is on the rise.
It discovered 14-day rentals in Spain are up by almost a quarter when compared to the figures from last year, while seven-day rentals are down to 16 per cent from 20 per cent.
Spain was also named as the cheapest country on the continent in which to rent a vehicle while on holiday.
