People heading off on a cruise should make the most of the amenities available on board the ship, according to one expert.
People heading off on a world cruise might want to plan what they will do between their intended destinations.
That is the advice from Carolyn Spencer Brown, editor-in-chief of Cruise Critic, who stated vessels are likely to have plenty of entertainment and amenities for passengers to use.
"The cruise ship itself is a key part of the vacation, onboard entertainment and socialising with other passengers is all part of the experience," she explained.
Exploring a number of other countries is a great reason for undertaking such an excursion and the ship itself boasts a great base from which to explore the docking locations.
World cruises can last between 80 to 157 nights and may "take in a vast number" of countries, according to Ms Spencer Brown.
Bus connections, flights and multiple hotel check-ins are all eliminated on a cruise, so annual trip insurance policyholders looking for a stress-free holiday might find it holds appeal.
Ms Spencer Brown's comments came in response to a poll by CruiseCompare.co.uk, which stated 19 per cent of respondents most desired a cruise holiday, with 14 per cent of those citing the relaxing nature of such a trip as the main reason for choosing it.
Some nine per cent of those asked were keen to experience other cultures from across the globe while seeing many destinations was another reason for selecting a cruise.
Many world cruises will not actually circumnavigate the globe, according to Ms Spencer Brown, but the opportunity to "sit back, relax and sail from one destination to the next" makes them a popular choice among consumers.
