Brits on their way to the Far East could also visit Macau, which is close to Hong Kong and offers a wide variety of attractions.
Holidaymakers who have already organised their
travel insurance before heading to the Far East could make sure they include a trip to Macau while they are away.
That is according to the tourist board for the Special Administrative Region of China, which cited the area's multicultural population and proximity to Hong Kong as a reason for visiting.
Sue Whitehead, UK and Ireland representative at the Macau Government Tourist Office, said that the "spectacular" views available at the top of Macau Tower, a 338-metre high building overlooking the Pearl river delta, are also a major attraction.
She added: "Top of any visitor's list should be the historic centre of Macau - a UNESCO World Heritage listed collection of over 20 buildings, streets and piazzas."
Macau's Statistics and Census Service recently revealed that over 2.5 million people visited the region in March, a 6.7 per cent increase compared to the same month in 2009, which indicates its popularity.
