England's capital caters for all tastes, according to an industry expert.
London represents the ideal destination for all kinds of holidaymakers this
summer, an industry expert has said.
According to a HotStats survey published by TRI Hospitality Consulting last week (June 25th), profitability in England's capital rose by some 10.7 per cent throughout the duration of last month, primarily due to increased numbers of foreign tourists visiting one of the world's most-renowned shopping hubs.
Hoteliers in London also benefited from the droves of people travelling there predominantly from France, China and the Middle East as they recorded an occupancy rate of more than 83 per cent in May.
Summery weather conditions and the favourable value of the pound contributed to the upturn in visitor numbers - which resulted in a year-on-year rise of 11.6 per cent in terms of retail sales in the capital - the British Retail Consortium added.
Meanwhile, the latest European Cities Marketing Benchmarking Report, which was published on June 25th, indicated that London topped the European table of nights spent by tourists there in 2009, ahead of other continental hotspots such Paris, Berlin and Rome.
And according to Jacqueline French, spokesperson for Visit London, the city's enduring popularity with holidaymakers can be attributed to its vast array of attractions to suit all tastes.
"London offers so much for visitors in the
summer, whether it is the parks and open spaces, free museums - both large and small - as well as fantastic events and attractions to keep everyone entertained," she said.
Anyone thinking of visiting London this
summer should consider taking out
travel insurance before leaving home.
Even if you're travelling within the UK,
holiday insurance from Direct
Travel Insurance is still a sensible purchase as the expense of dealing with issues on a holiday can be costly in any country.
