Las Vegas has a lot to offer visitors who want to escape from their daily lives.
Travel insurance policyholders should consider heading to Las Vegas in order to have a holiday of a lifetime.
Oscar Goodman, ex-mayor of Las Vegas and chair of the host committee of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, suggests the area is making a comeback.
He admits it went through some tough times during the recession, but this quiet period was seen as an opportunity for developers to build more accommodation.
Some 5,000 additional rooms were created and the gaming industry has hired 8,000 new employees since last year, while tourism accounts for approximately 85 per cent of occupancy there.
Mr Goodman claims this makes it the "envy of the tourism world" and says Las Vegas is able to offer visitors a great experience for a lower cost.
He claims the city is an "adult play land" and says children are welcome there and they will have a good time, but it is really targeted more at over-21s.
"We market ourselves for people to really go to the cusp of legality.
"You won't fall over, but if you go to the cusp you can have a good time and play out your fantasy," Mr Goodman notes.
The expert believes Las Vegas is such a desirable location because it provides an outlet for people's unhappiness and gives them an escape from their daily lives.
His comments follow predictions from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, which suggested the city will achieve 39 million visitors in 2011, which is just the second time on record such a mark has been reached.
